Young Continental Singers: June 29, 2008
This past Sunday June 29th, Harvest Bible Chapel of Shelbyville hosted the Young Continental Singers at the Strand Theatre. The Young Continental Singers travel the United States. They ranged in age from twelve to fifteen years old. They are affiliated with the Continental Singers (age 16-28) and the Encore Continental Singers (age 28. The Young Continental Singers consisted of 26 performers singing and dancing the story of Joseph of the Old Testament. This very creative way of presenting the timeless story of Joseph took just over 1-½ hours.
The event was well attended with an audience of over 150 coming out to see the Young Continentals. For many in the audience it was the first time to visit the Strand Theatre and witness the much-talked about interior renovations. The Strand received a lot of good comments and everybody really seemed to enjoy the venue and show. The Young Continental Singers also were very pleased with the venue, as they commented on the size of the stage, closeness of the audience, and the expertise of the sound crew.
The Strand Theatre would like to thank Harvest Bible Chapel for hosting this fine traveling show at our venue. The was first time that the Strand has had the opportunity to host a national travel show that brought in their own props and sound equipment. This was a tremendous learning experience for our volunteers and sound crew alike. We are taking these lessons and experiences into consideration as we continue to continue to transform the Strand Theatre into a first class facility that can host a variety of groups.
