Dear Strand Fan,

FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS – CANCELLED TONIGHT

Road work in front of the Strand makes it difficult for the contractor to maintain access to the theater.   They have graciously offered to keep things open for us, but we are partners as well and have opted to cancel Friday’s event to help facilitate the smooth and effective renovation of our curbs and sidewalk.  The sidewalk was will be replaced to 18” from the front of the theater. They will maintain our marquee drains under the sidewalk that were existing. This is a complex project, and we appreciate INDOT and the contractor working with us to maintain the integrity of the Strand.

We are dark until Saturday June 2, 2018 when we welcome ERIC SOMMER to the Strand.   Our community would like to grow, this is one way we can help. Bringing excellent entertainment to downtown Shelbyville.   We hope you will join us for the concert that starts at 7:30pm. If you are interested in his music, check out his website www.ericsommer.com

This past week we had a six event week.   It was fun and exhausting at the same time.    On Sunday we had a private concert for the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society.   Artist Tim Duckworth brought in his Hauptwerk Virtual Organ. It filled the Strand will true theatre organ sound.  Tim is a talented young artist and we enjoyed hosting the group.

Strand Fun Fact:   To date the Strand has hosted 1179 events with at a total audience of 112,401 patrons.    Each year the Strand produces our “Annual Arts Impact Statement.” This flyer, available in our lobby, highlights thenumber and type of performances plus audience by year.   We have done this each and every year since we opened. We are proud to provide opportunity for the arts each and every week, not just now and then. It takes hard work and a focused vision.   We have both.

As we go into summer we want to extend our congratulations to our graduating Senior class.   The high schools in our county produced well prepared students that are ready to take the next step in life.   Many student volunteer with the Strand and we are always tickled by their growth and maturity. Good job CLASS of 2018.    Stop by and take a picture in front of the marquee to honor your efforts.

We are looking forward to a great summer.   It is all because of you, thank you! See you at the Strand.
