Strand Theatre Weekly Email: October 1, 2009
The past weekend the Strand hosted Tromadance Indiana. The event showcased over 30 films from independent filmmakers across the country. The Strand met many new friends and was pleased to be a venue for the event. The president and founder of Troma Entertainment Lloyd Kaufman made a visit to our theatre for the festival. He was very gracious and complimentary of the work our community has accomplished with the Strand. We have lots of pictures and articles on our web site.
We have a last minute change for the Shelby County Health Department Lecture on October 20th. The topic will be changed, at the Health Department’s request, to the H1N1 Flu. They have information which they need to get to the community. The Strand is thrilled to help with our public health. Please come and hear the important information about the H1N1 Flu on October 20, 2009 @ 7:00. Admission is FREE. We will have Robert Lewis back in the 2010 Lecture Series to present his planned program.
A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped us get through this past weekend. We had 18 different people volunteer for the Strand.
Coming up we have House on Haunted Hill on Friday 8:00pm & Saturday @ 11:00pm. This is the 1958 classic with Vincent Price. Our movies all have a Halloween related theme this month.
On Saturday we have 2 very enthusiastic bands playing the Strand. Wrecked + Pursuit of Apathy will take the stage at 8:00pm. Come out and have a good time at this Heavy Metal extravaganza.
October is a big month for the Strand. There is something for everyone. Don’t forget that on Saturday October 10, 2009, we have 5 concerts in conjunction with the Shelby County Arts Fest.
Blue River Community Choir 10:00am FREE
Shelby Community Band 11:30am FREE
Pitts Kitchen Dulcimer Band 1:00pm FREE

Each concert will last about an hour. That evening we have the BEATLES ACOUSTIC on the Strand stage. The performance starts at 8:00pm. All you Beatles fans, this is your chance! Bring your kids too.
Thank you for all the support. The Strand shined this weekend to an audience from around the country. This is because of you…thank you!
