Strand Theatre Weekly Email: June 30, 2009
This week is the celebration of our County’s birthday on July 4th. In observance of the Holiday (and because all our volunteers are pooped from the schedule of the last 2 months) we will not have any events this weekend. Don’t be sad, we have a great movie on Wednesday night you can attend. We are showing “Battle of the Bulge”. This classic stars Henry Fonda. It will nice to see this on the big screen.
The 11:00pm Saturday night cult movie brought visitors from Kokomo to see “The Dawn of the Dead” on the big screen this weekend. We had the largest crowd yet for the late movie. Slowly this is gaining speed. Thanks to Scott and Tracey for making the trip from Howard County to Shelby County!!
Saturday night we hosted the first round of the ShelbyIdol competition. We had 300+ people spending their Saturday night listening to live music on stage…our mission exactly. The next round is July 11th, with the finals on July 25th. Get your tickets early.
Ever notice that sometimes things don’t go as smoothly as planned? That happened to the Strand on Sunday. Late Saturday night we were informed by our film distributor that our copy of “The Inspector General” didn’t arrive. We had no choice but to cancel the movie. Things like this happen, and we just move on. One Strand Fan out there emailed us on Monday offering his copy on VHS. It is nice to see people actually read our web site. Thanks for the offer.
Enjoy your Holiday Weekend, we will. Thank you for all the support. Seeing a packed house, as on Saturday night, makes this all worthwhile.
