Dear Strand Fan,

Like the tick tick clock of the stately clock, as it stands against the wall…the Strand’s 2017 season is winding down.   It is hard to believe this year has almost passed.   It has been quite a year.   We have had our ups and downs but are finishing on a high note.

We have 6 things left in 2017.    On Saturday night December 16th (tomorrow) we welcome back Donnie Baker to the Strand’s stage.   This is a popular show.   The 7:00pm show is SOLD OUT.   Tickets are still available for the 9:30 show but it is getting full.   If you still need tickets head on over to Mickey’s T-Mart (for cash or check) or online at     We anticipate being very close to maximum for the second show too!

This performance we will be using our Cabaret Area bar and our balcony Upper Lobby bar.   This will be the first true test of the new serving space upstairs.   Remember, we have bathrooms available in the balcony.   Thank you to The Fly (Pasghetti’s) for providing the bar for this performance.  The restaurants in Shelbyville are ready to welcome our Strand fans before and after the show.   We hope you visit a local eatery.  See you Saturday night….It’s State Law!

Saturday December 23rd the Strand will be rockin’ with the sounds of FENNS STATION.   Nick Fischer and the gang will be performing together for the first time in years.   The concert will open with BLUE RIDGE BANNED.  (Editor’s note:  You might notice our marquee says “Band” not “Banned”   We just did not have enough space on the marquee to spell it properly!)  We look forward to ending the performance year with great local talent.    Tickets are available online and at Mickey’s T-Mart (cash or check only).    We hope to see you at this show for a blast from the past.

We will finish the public performances of 2017 with two very special events on Christmas Eve Day.   Our friends at First Christian Church need a place for their Christmas Eve Day services.   Their church is undergoing a wonderful renovation.    The Strand is honored to offer our theater to the congregation to celebrate the Christmas Season.

The first worship service will be at 10:00am on Sunday December 24, 2017.       It will be followed by the Candlelight Christmas Eve Service at 6:30pm.   Everyone is welcome to attend these services.

We have well over 100 bookings for 2018.   When we asked one of our new performers for 2018 why they picked the Strand, he reminded us of some of our core beliefs   These are things we do everyday that sometimes we take for granted.  The Strand is committed to our performers.   We are a venue that does not judge.   Whether you like Country or Classical, Rock or Pop, we will not determine what is worthy or not for our stage.  This has allowed us to flourish and to provide a creative performance environment where all are welcome and everyone is respected.    Fortunately for us Whit Stillman characters are not making the decisions on our programming!  Any true art lover knows the best art often comes from the unexpected.

We quoted a lyric from a famous Indiana composer in this email.   If you know the composer and title of the song, let us know!   Reply to this email and if you have the correct answer we will send you a coupon good for a free soft drink on your next visit to the Strand.  If you read us on Facebook or Twitter, just send a message to our account.  Please include your email address so we can send you your coupon.

We want to send special greetings to several members of our Strand Family.   They are having a difficult day today and we wish them well.  They know who they are and are loyal readers of this email.   We look forward to having them on the mend and back at the Strand.

Ok.   Ready, set, go…for Donnie Baker!   We have the our volunteers are ready, our theater is ready, the local eateries are ready, the hotels are ready, the bar is ready, and Donnie is ready.   Come join the fun tomorrow night at the Strand.    Thank you for your support, without it none of this would be possible.    See you at the Strand!
