Dr. Ewing Announcement
Local Doctors will provide free care to help the less fortunate in honor of Valentine’s Day.

As part of a nationwide charitable project, Drs. Roger and Tim Ewing, chiropractic physicians, will treat people at no charge on Saturday, February 13, 2010.
Drs. Roger and Tim Ewing are members of Doctors With A Heart (DWAH), a non-profit organization that asks doctors to extend free health care to members or their communities for Valentine’s Day. The 15,000 member program includes chiropractors, orthopedists, and physicians. During regular working hours every Valentine’s Day, member doctors provide services at no charge. Drs. Ewing do ask for a donation of canned good or hygiene products that they will donate to a Shelby County food pantry.

“I strongly believe in returning something to the community that’s been so good to me and my family,” commented Dr. Roger Ewing. “Using my skills to help the less fortunate on this day that symbolizes love will help me pay part of my debt to Shelbyville.”

DWAH was started in 1986 by Dr. Duane Schmidt, a Cedar Rapids , Iowa dentist. The organization had been commended by former President Ronald Reagan, who call it, “an outstanding example of volunteerism at its best, “and by Dr. Leo Buscaglia, who said, “What an exciting and caring way to show people how much they matter!”

Drs. Roger and Tim Ewing’s office is located at 103 S. Tompkins Street , “one block north of the Shelbyville library.” Their regular office hours on Saturday, February 13 will be from 9:00am to 12 Noon. Please call (317) 398-4404 for more information.

Shelbyville Arts Council

**Please note the change in date

The Shelby Art Guild Association (SAGA) will host:

Art Fair and Grand Reopening of The Gallery

February 13th from 9:00am – 3:00pm

At its new location, 5 Public Square .

The Gallery was formerly located at 18 S. Harrison Street .

The art fair promises to be an interesting venture with several artists demonstrating and selling their works, according to Kathy Neeb, SAGA membership chairman. Those attending will have the experience of interacting with the artists, observing them as they work, and doing hands-on activities. Various medias will be represented including oil and acrylic painting, jewelry making, pottery, pointillism, fabric art, and rope weaving.

SAGA, a non profit organization, was founded in September 2008 with a mission to promote and develop the visual arts in Shelbyville and Shelby County .

In its first year, SAGA:

  • Opened The Gallery at 18 S. Harrison Street , giving area artists an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.
  • Offered classes taught by area artists at the Grover Museum
  • Sponsored art fairs at The Grover Museum
  • Promoted downtown Shelbyville events which showcase artists at work in their various media
  • Hosted “Paint Out” for central Indiana artists

SAGA is also having a membership drive. Costs is $18 a year which allows members to establish contacts with others interested in the local art community; provides a venue to both teach and learn new techniques, and helps members design, promote and participate in art-related events such as the Paint-Out and local art fairs.

Membership forms are available at The Gallery.
