Shelby County Players presents a Summer Acting Workshop at the Strand Theatre.   The workshop is produced in conjunction with The Studio School and Gallery, Inc. of Indianapolis.    It will take place from July 7 thru July 11.   For further information, please contact Chris Cox at 765-525-6924.

The workshop will be led by returning instructor Lesley Meier-Shore.

A Community Gospel Sing will take place at the Strand on July 20, 2008.   All proceeds will benefit the victims of the flooding in Shelby County.    The concert starts at 2:30pm.   The Strand is honored to help by donating our performance space for this important community event.

The final round of the Shelby Idol competition will be held at the Strand on Friday August 22, 2008 @ 7:00pm

On Saturday night June 21, 2008 the audience in Shelbyville was treated to a trio of great acts at our theatre.    First on the night was an acoustic set by Dave Scarzo.    Dave’s one man set was entertaining and diverse.

 Next up was the popular Indianapolis band Drop Claw.   These guys were great!   The gave a powerful 75 minute set.    Their single pick-up Stratocasters sounded great on the Strand house sound system.

 The final act of the night was the popular local band Satellite Blues.   They sounded great. 

If you haven’t been to the Strand for one of these concerts, you need to turn off the TV and come out!   This is a great value and outstanding entertainment.   These bands donate 100% of their talent to the Strand to help us get established.    They need to play to a full house, so please consider joining us for a great night of LIVE entertainement in downtown Shelbyville.     A big thanks to Smashed Productions, producers of these events.
